Buckeye Tune-Up Results

COLUMBUS, Ohio –
Junior Juli Accurso captured the one mile run title to highlight competition for the Ohio University women’s track & field team Friday at the Buckeye Tune-Up. Accurso crossed the finish line in 4:53.33 and automatically qualified for the event in next week’s MAC Indoor Championships with her time.

It was the second-fastest time in the mile for an Ohio student-athlete this season and the third-best time among all MAC competitors. In sprints competition, senior Danielle Winningham (Barboursville, W. Va.) finished sixth in the 400m dash (58.65).

"This meet was a step forward for much of our team," Head Coach Clay Calkins said. "We had multiple season-best performances and performances that moved athletes higher on the MAC qualifying list. The meet was good preparation for the MAC Indoor Championships next weekend."

The Bobcats received a pair of strong finishes in the 800m run, as senior Erin Gale (Wadsworth, Ohio) and freshman Tessa Weigand (Akron, Ohio) placed fourth and fifth with times of 2:19.24 and 2:19.25, respectively.

In the 3,000m run, freshman Krista Roehlig (Uniontown, Ohio) placed sixth in a personal-best time of 10:28.22, while fellow freshman Allison Roeth placed 11th in 10:58.20.

The quartet of Winningham, senior Kiley Mathews (Cortland, Ohio), sophomore Delaney Bolger (Lebanon, Ohio) and sophomore Karissa Conrad (Lancaster, Ohio) finished fourth out of 11 teams in the 4x400 medley relay. The squad crossed the finish line in a time of 3:59.84.

In field events, sophomore Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) placed third in the high jump with a leap of 1.63m, while freshman Hayley Stegemiller (Lebanon, Ohio) finished fifth with a 1.48m performance in the final.

Senior Alexis Geiger (Gallipolis, Ohio)posted a season-best 5.52m jump in the women’s long jump, which currently ranks as the 12th best jump in the MAC this season. Fellow Bobcat Erika Armstead (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished ninth in the long jump at 5.20m.

Sophomore Janiece Rose put up a pair of strong performances in her field events. The Franklinville, N.J., native placed fifth in the shot put with a season-best throw of 13.79m, and finished ninth in the weight throw with a 15.37m performance.
