Ohio had a number of strong performances in field events at the OSU Tune-Up

Columbus, Ohio - Ohio Track and Field geared up for next weekend in Akron with some impressive outings at the Ohio State University Tune-Up on Friday evening. The Bobcats accumulated 28 top-10 finishes against the Buckeyes and other top teams.
Ohio owned the shot put, placing three throwers in the top five. Janiece Rose, Donyelle Brown and Kristen Mason all attained PR's and finished third, fourth and fifth respectively. Rose's throw of 13.35m was the best throw of the indoor season.
Mason had another impressive performance with another Ohio seasonal-best in the weight throw. The junior finished fourth with a throw of 16.48m and Brown was right behind her in sixth place with a PR of 16.20m. Rose also attained a PR in the event with a toss of 14.88m.
Melissa Thompson won the 1000m with a time of 2:59.25 as Brianna Shaw finished fourth. Erin Gale just missed out on winning the 800m with Delaney Bolger placing third with a PR of 2:23.23
Ohio had four runners in the top 10 of the 3k with Allison Stillwell earning the top time of 10:25.06 and finishing second. Abbie Selhorst (5th) and Lauren Adkins (8th) each attained PR's with Hannah Charbel placing ninth.
Danielle Winningham finished fourth in the 400m as her time of 59.19 was the top indoor time of the season for the `Cats. Hope McCarty (6th), Kiley Mathews (7th) and Courtney Weiss (9th) all finished in the top 10 and Maria Brafford placed 16th with a PR of 1:04.06. Mathews, McCarty, Weiss and Winningham teamed up again in the 4x4, finishing second with a time of 4:01.01
The indoor marks continued to fall with Alexis Geiger leaping 5.53m in the long jump and Jaimie Cavinee clearing 3.05m in the pole vault. Jamie Fisher and Rachel Arnott also finished in the top 10 of the pole vault. Serena Warner (4th), Chanda Cuckler (8th) and Brittany Tyree (10th) all finished strong in the high jump.
Geiger also picked up a PR in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.41 seconds and had Ohio's best run of the season in the 60m at 8.11 seconds. Tyree ran a season-best 9.48 seconds in the 60m hurdles as well. Cuckler, along with Olivia Vitou, each had their best runs of the season in the 200m
Ashley Waddington paced an Ohio contingent in the mile with a PR of 5:12.68. Morgan Reichert finished seventh, Emily Skidmore was eighth with a season-best 5:19.53, while Lauren Adkins was 14th with a PR time and Angela Klimkowski had her best indoor time of the season.
Ohio heads to Akron next weekend for the 2012 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. The MAC Championships will take place February 24-25 at the University of Akron's Stile Field House.
