YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Ohio women's track and field team placed 10th at the 2008 Mid-American Conference Track and Field Indoor Championships Saturday evening at Bob Parks Track in Bowen Field House.

Ohio totaled 18 points on the second day of the two-day championships to finish with 32 points for the weekend. Akron won the team championship with 106 points, followed by Western Michigan (96), Miami (88), Ball State (50.50) Eastern Michigan (40.50), Kent State (34) and Toledo (32.50). Bowling Green and Northern Illinois finished behind the Bobcats with 26.50 and 12.50 points, respectively.

For the second day in a row the Bobcats were led by Kari Summers (Troy, Ohio) and Carime Reinhart (Boscom, Ohio). Summers placed third in this afternoon's 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:58.72 and Reinhart finished sixth with a time of 10:03.77.

On the first day championships, Reinhart took third (17:26.66) and Summers placed fourth (17:29.05) in the 5,000 meter run.

Sophomores Bahiyjaui Allen (Sylvania, Ohio) and Emily Amendola (Beach City, Ohio) each placed in the top six of the individual standings in the shot put event. Allen placed third with a distance of 49-03.00 and Amendola took sixth with a mark of 45-11.25.

In the first day of the championships, junior Jessie Tanner (Newark, Ohio) recorded a distance of 55-08.25 to tally one point for the Bobcats.

Akron has now won the indoor conference title four straight years.
