Track Wraps Up Competition At MAC Indoors

Melissa Thompson earned a top-3 finish in the one mile run for the second-straight season.

The Ohio University women's track & field team put forth a number of top-10 finishes on the final day of competition at the MAC Indoor Championships Saturday at the KSU Field House.

The Bobcats finished the two-day event with 24 points to finish 11th out of 12 teams.

Ohio was led Saturday by senior Melissa Thompson (Westerville, Ohio) who finished third in the one mile run to pick up six points for the Green & White. Thompson crossed the finish line in 4:53.23 to post her second-straight top-3 finish at the event in the annual league meet.

In the 3,000m run, sophomore Caroline Hildebrand (Hilliard, Ohio) posted four points for the Green & White after finishing fifth in a personal-best time of 9:49.72. Sophomore Kayla Scott (Canal Winchester, Ohio) placed 11th in the event with a time of 10:07.59.

In field events, junior Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.) placed 11th in the shot put with a throw of 13.51m, while redshirt sophomore Donyelle Brown (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) was 13th with a mark of 13.33m.

After this weekend’s events, the Bobcats take a week off before kicking off the 2014 outdoor season on March 21-22 at the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, N.C.
