DAY ONE RESULTS
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Ohio University women's track & field team jump started the outdoor season at the Wake Forest Open Friday night at Kentner Stadium.
A number of Ohio student-athletes earned top-10 finishes in their first action of the spring.
Leading the Ohio charge was junior Donyelle Brown (Reynoldsburg, Ohio), who placed second in Flight 3 of the hammer throw with a mark of 55.56m. The personal-best throw automatically qualified Brown for the MAC Outdoor Championships to be held in Athens this May.
Senior Lauren McCullough (Lancaster, Pa.) finished eighth in the marquee hammer throw flight with a mark of 48.72m.
In sprints action, senior Kara Jackson (Bidwell, Ohio) posted a personal-best time of 57.74 while finishing third in Section 3 of the 400m dash.
In Section 2 of the 1,500m run, sophomore Sarah Kaufman (Zanesville, Ohio) placed 10th in 5:02.83. Fellow sophomore Peyton Adkins (Gallipolis, Ohio) placed fourth in Section 3 of the race in 5:03.18.
Continuing in distance action, sophomore Krista Roehlig (Uniontown, Ohio) put together an outstanding performance in the 5,000m run, finishing fourth in a personal-best time of 17:27.78. Fellow sophomore Kayla Scott (Canal Winchester, Ohio) finished just behind her in fifth in a strong time of 17.28.37.
In field events, Brown placed third in Flight 3 of the shot put with a personal-best throw of 13.80m. She was followed up by junior Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.), who placed fifth with a mark of 13.51m.
Rose also posted a personal-best mark in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.89m to finish third in Flight 2 of the event. Freshman Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) was fifth with a throw of 42.89m.
The Bobcats wrap up action at the Wake Forest Open on Saturday (March 22).
