Winthrop Invitational Complete Results

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Senior Danielle Winningham captured the 400m dash title and freshman Tessa Weigand won the 1,500m run to lead the Ohio University women's track & field team on day two of the Winthrop Invitational Saturday.

Winningham, a Barboursville, W. Va., native, crossed the finish line in a personal best time of 56.04 to win the 400m, while Weigand (Akron, Ohio) bested her previous 1,500m high water mark by almost nine seconds to win the race in 4:42.70.

Winningham's time qualified her for the MAC Outdoor Championships later this season.

"We had a number of breakout performances this weekend at Winthrop," head coach Clay Calkins said. "In addition to Danielle and Tessa's personal best times, a number of our other student-athletes impressed with MAC Championship-level performances."

Sophomore Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) finished third in her first-career 100m hurdles race with an impressive time of 14.48. In the 400m hurdles, sophomore Karissa Conrad (Lancaster, Ohio) finished fourth in 1:05.13.

Freshman Allison Roeth (Houston, Ohio) placed fourth in the 3000m steeplechase (11:50.45), while senior Alexa Macri (St. Clairsville, Ohio) finished second in the discus with a throw of 42.13m.

Also in field events, senior Lauren McCullough (Lancaster, Ohio) placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 36.75m.

In the 800m run, the Bobcats enjoyed a pair of top-10 finishes, led by Weigand who finished sixth in 2:17.89. Fellow sophomore Delaney Bolger (Lebanon, Ohio) placed seventh in 2:20.65.

The Bobcats host their first home event of the outdoor season next Saturday (April 6) with the Ohio Team Challenge and Distance Open.
