OXFORD, Ohio - After four events on the opening day of the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships, the Bobcat track & field squad stands tied for first place with host Miami University. Both teams amassed 36 points at George L. Rider Track on Friday in a field of twelve in Oxford, Ohio.

Freshman Kristen Altenburger (Troy, Ohio) nabbed top honors, finishing first in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 38:30.47. In the same race, junior Abigail Swift (Newark, Del.) placed fourth and fellow junior Kelley O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) came in seventh to also earn points for Ohio. Also on the track, Jenielle Hunt (Pittsburgh, Pa.), another junior, finished 10th in the 5,000 meters with a mark of 17:49.00.

Both the hammer and javelin throws were also held Friday, with the Bobcats turning in top-three performances in each event. Junior Emily Amendola (Beach City, Ohio) placed third in the hammer with a regional qualifying mark of 185-06, while senior Susan Plungis (Great Barrington, Mass.) took runner-up honors in the javelin with a throw of 126-08.

Freshman Hope McCarty (Hudson, Ohio) and sophomore Megan Helgeson (Franklin, Ohio) completed four events of the heptathlon and will complete the remaining three events on Saturday.
