COLUMBUS, Ohio - Senior Danielle Winningham (Barboursville, W. Va.) set a personal best time in the 800m Saturday to lead the Bobcats on the final day of the Jesse Owens Classic at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Winningham crossed the finish line in 2:12.11 to set her new top mark. The time was just five milliseconds off the MAC auto time and should earn her a provisional berth in the event at next month's MAC Outdoor Championships.
Senior Alexis Geiger (Gallipolis, Ohio) followed up her strong performance in the long jump last weekend with another solid jump on Saturday. Geiger finished fifth in the event with a jump of 5.79m.
Sophomore Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.) placed 17th in the shot put (13.09m), while fellow sophomore Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) finished 21st in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.95. In the 400m version of the hurdles, sophomore Karissa Conrad (Lancaster, Ohio) placed 12th in 1:06.04.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday at the Miami RedHawk Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
