ATHENS, Ohio –
Junior Donyelle Brown posted two of Ohio’s five event victories Friday to lead the Bobcats at the annual Ohio Open, held at the Goldsberry Track & Field Complex.

The Green & White registered a number of strong finishes in the team’s last competition before the MAC Outdoor Championships in Athens in two weeks. Scored as dual meets with Kent State and Marshall, Ohio picked up head-to-head victories over the Golden Flashes (92-69) and Thundering Herd (88-75).

Brown (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) shattered her previous PR in the shot put Friday while grabbing a first-place finish in the event. Her mark of 14.48m was just off the 14.55 MAC auto mark and will qualify her for the upcoming league meet in Athens (May 15-17). Junior Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.) finished second with a mark of 13.53m.

Brown followed up that performance by winning the hammer throw title with a mark of 52.03m. Rose was third with a throw of 47.15m.

Junior Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) claimed the high jump crown after posting a season-high mark of 1.70m, which automatically qualified her for the MAC Outdoor Championships. Freshman Taylor Smith (Canal Winchester, Ohio) finished second with a jump of 1.65m.

Junior Karissa Conrad (Lancaster, Ohio) won the 400m hurdle title at the Ohio Open for the second-straight season after crossing the finish line in 1:04.33. She was followed by sophomore Hayley Stegemiller (1:04.41) and freshman Mackenzie Rankin (1:07.19), who finished second and third, respectively.

In the first event victory of her Ohio career, sophomore Peyton Adkins (Gallipolis, Ohio) won the 3000 steeplechase in a personal-best time of 11:38.43. The time was more than 14 seconds faster than her previous top finish.

Freshman Olivia Mayfield earned a second-place finish in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 5.61m, while freshman Tajah Smith (Copley, Ohio) was third with a mark of 5.58m.

Sophomore Ashlee Bilhimer (Gardner, Kan.) placed second in the javelin with a throw of 40.83m, while senior Lauren McCullough (Lancaster, Ohio) posted a personal-best throw of 39.99m. Fellow senior Olivia Vitou (Rocky River, Ohio) also tallied a personal-best mark (37.79m) en route to a fifth-place finish.

McCullough’s throw automatically qualified her for the MAC Outdoors, while Vitou should make it in as an at-large selection.

A pair of Bobcats earned top-5 finishes in the discus throw, led by senior Alexa Macri (St. Clairsville, Ohio), who placed third with a season-best mark of 42.78m. Freshman Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) posted a career-best mark of 42.48m to finish fourth.

In the 1500m run, sophomore Stephanie Loshbough (Johnstown, Ohio) placed second in a time of 4:54.19, while fellow sophomore Tessa Weigand (Akron, Ohio) was fourth in 4:57.48. Sarah Kaufman (Zanesville, Ohio) was right behind in fifth place (4:57.81).

In the 800m run, freshman Hannah Wishart (Powell, Ohio) finished seventh in a time of 2:27.28. Sophomore Kristin Winkel (Avon Lake, Ohio) earned a sixth-place finish in the 100m hurdles in a personal-best time of 14.90.
