Accurso Shines For Ohio In Palo Alto

Accurso's 5000m time Sunday should qualify her for NCAA East Regional action in June.

PALO ALTO, Calif. -Ohio University women's track & field senior All-American Juli Accurso put together an outstanding performance on one of the biggest stages in collegiate track Sunday night.

The Casstown, Ohio, native placed 11th in Section 2 of the 5000m run at the prestigious Payton Jordan Invitational in a school-record time of 15:59.12. It was her personal-best outdoor time in the event and also marked the second-best time in Mid-American Conference outdoor track history. The time also was the 11th-fastest time in the NCAA East Region this season. The mark should qualify the senior for the NCAA East Regional this June.

Accurso also should be among the NCAA East Region field in the 10000m run after posting a personal-best time of 34:18.12 at the Hillsdale "Gina" Relays on April 26. It is currently the 22nd-fastest time in the East Region in 2014.

The Bobcats return to action when the team hosts the annual MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 15-17 in Athens.
