The Ohio women's track and field team is in third place after the second day of competition at the 2008 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The Bobcats have racked up 34 team points after day two of the MAC Championships. Akron leads the way with 96 team points and Buffalo overtook the Bobcats, who were in second place after day one, with 39 team points. Kent State is behind Ohio with 30 team points and Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Bowling Green, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Miami and Toledo round out the field.

The second day of events at Bowling Green's Whittaker Track was highlighted by Bahiyjaui Allen (Sylvania, Ohio) and her record-setting second place finish in the shot put. The sophomore, who broke her own school record earlier in the season with a throw of 50 feet, again shattered the program record with a throw of 51 feet, 11.25 inches. The second place finish earned Ohio eight team points.

Allen originally broke the school-record in the shot put last season as a freshman before breaking that mark with the 50 foot throw at the Hillsdale Relays earlier this season.

Emily Amendola (Beach City, Ohio) also earned the Bobcats one team point by taking eighth in the shot put, with a throw of 46 feet, 2.75 inches. It is the second event Amendola has placed in at the MAC Championships. She also placed in the hammer throw on Thursday.

Two other Bobcats earned team points on Friday.

Jenielle Hunt (Pittsburgh, Pa.) took eighth in the steeplechase, finishing the 3,000 meter event in 11:22.73 to earn one team points.

Kristi Sturges (Parma, Ohio) placed seventh in the long jump, with a jump of 18 feet, 4.25 inches earning the Bobcats two team points. The jump was Sturges' longest of the season and tied the Bobcats' season best.

Many more points will be earned on Saturday with the finals for sprints and middle distance track events.
