KENT, Ohio - The Ohio University women's track and field team's concluded competition Saturday evening at the 2012 Golden Flashes Gala. The two-day non-team scoring event was held inside the Kent State Field House.
Ohio's performance in the 800-meter run highlighted the afternoon as the Bobcats finished 2-3-4. Senior Erin Gale (Wadsworth, Ohio) paced the Bobcats with a time of 2:17.64 to finished second. Senior Danielle Winningham (Barboursville, W. Va.) took third, recording a time of 2:18.90. Sophomore Delaney Bolger (Lebanon, Ohio) finished fourth, clocking a time of 2:20.62.
Winningham also registered a Top 3 performance in the 400-meter dash as she placed third, clocking a time of 57.63.
Senior Lauren Adkins (Gallipolis, Ohio) captured fifth in the 1,000-meter run as she posted a time of 3:14.42. Freshman teammate Sarah Kaufman (Zanesville, Ohio) was not far behind as she placed eighth, posting a performance of 3:17.53.
Freshman Tessa Weigand (Akron, Ohio) turned in a strong performance in the mile as she took fourth, posting a time of 5:18.93.
In the field events, sophomore Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) took fourth in the high jump as she posted a mark of 5 feet, 5 inches. Sophomore Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.) placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 44-2.75.
Ohio's trip to Kent was its final meet of 2012. The Bobcats will return to action on Jan. 18, 2013 as it heads to the TUTF Carnival in Tiffin, Ohio.
