Track Heads To Geneva For SPIRE Division I Invite

Junior Chanda Cuckler has been a force in the long jump and high jump this winter.

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University Women's Track & Field team will hit the road on Valentine's Day to compete in the Spire Division I T&F Invitational. 

The action will take place February 14-15 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Events will begin at 2 p.m. on February 14 with the women's pentathlon and resume on February 15 at 10:30 a.m. with the men's one mile.

The Bobcats will compete among their fellow MAC student-athletes of Toledo and Eastern Michigan as well as Midwest squads Ohio State and Notre Dame.

A total of 19 student-athletes will be traveling to compete for the Green & White on Friday.

Sophomore Donyelle Brown (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) is set to defend her personal best at the invite in the weight throw after placing first in the event last week at Youngstown State University. Brown earned first-place honors at the YSU National Invitational with a throw of 17.45m.

Junior Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) will compete in the long jump after having her personal best jump last week at YSU with a distance of 5.72m.

In distance action, sophomores Krista Roehlig (Uniontown, Ohio) and Kayla Scott (Canal Winchester, Ohio) will run in the 5,000m after placing fifth and sixth, respectively, at the event at the YSU Invite. After trekking to South Bend to run the mile at the Meyo Invitational, senior Melissa Thompson (Westerville, Ohio) will try to earn a berth into the MACs in the event at SPIRE.
