Friday action will be highlighted by the distance medley relay at 6:55 p.m. The Ohio quartet has dominated the event in recent years, capturing the title in three-consecutive seasons. The 2013 squad broke the meet record (which Ohio set the previous season) with a blistering time of 11:33.39.
Junior Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) will see her first action Friday in the indoor pentathlon. Cuckler has performed admirably in the event this season and broke the school record (set in 1993) with a 3,732-point performance at the SPIRE Division I Indoor Track & Field Invitational on Feb. 14.
A trio of strong sophomore distance runners will race Friday at 6:10 p.m. for Ohio in the 5,000m run. The group includes Caroline Hildebrand (Hilliard, Ohio), Kayla Scott (Canal Winchester, Ohio) and Krista Roehlig (Uniontown, Ohio).
In field events, redshirt sophomore Donyelle Brown (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) looks to continue her red-hot streak in the weight throw beginning Friday at 10 a.m. Brown has broken the school record on two occasions this winter, highlighted by a career-best throw of 18.33m at last weekend’s Buckeye Tune-Up in Columbus. The mark broke her previous record of 17.83m set at the Tom Wright Classic in January.
Brown will be joined in the event by junior Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.). The duo also will compete in the shot put on Saturday beginning at 11:05 a.m.
Saturday action for the Bobcats kicks off at 1:35 p.m., when Thompson defends her title in the one mile run. At last season’s event, Thompson broke the Ohio school record while finishing in a personal-best 4:48.22.
Accurso has battled injuries all winter for the Bobcats but is back in action Saturday to defend her 2013 MAC title in the 3,000m run. The senior qualified for the league meet in January and will be joined in the field by Hildebrand and Scott.
