Track Opens Outdoor Season In Winston-Salem

Sophomore Caroline Hildebrand recently competed a strong distance season at MAC Indoors.

ATHENS, Ohio -
The Ohio University women's track & field team is set to kick-off its 2014 outdoor season this weekend at Wake Forest Open.

The Cats' will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete in the annual event.

The action will begin with field events on Friday at 9:30 a.m. with track events following at 1 p.m.

Following an impressive indoor season performance, junior Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) will compete in the high jump, long jump, 4x400m relay and 100m hurdles for the Bobcats.

Sophomores Caroline Hildebrand (Hilliard, Ohio) and Kayla Scott (Canal Winchester, Ohio) will represent Ohio in the 3,000m run. Hildebrand is coming off of a fifth-place finish at the MAC Indoor Championships in the event, where she earned a personal-best time of 9:49.72.

Junior Donyelle Brown (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) also will compete in Winston-Salem after setting the school record in the weight throw (18.33m) during the indoor season. Brown is scheduled to compete in the shot put, discus and hammer throw.

Freshmen Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) will join Brown in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw on Saturday morning. A new face will also represent the Bobcats this weekend at Wake Forest. Freshman Ashlee Bilhimer (Gardner, Kan.) will make her debut and lead the team in the javelin throw.
