Men's Track Excels in Sprints, Finishes Second

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Ohio men's track & field team placed second on Saturday afternoon, defeating Colgate, Delaware and Maine at Ingram Field.
The Midshipmen took first place with 216 points, while Ohio was second with 185.50 and Maine took third with 74.50. Colgate placed fourth with 56 and Delaware was fifth with 50.

The Bobcats exceled in the sprint events. Ohio was led by sophomore Martin Jackson who placed first in the 100m dash (11.12) and 200m dash (22.3). Curtis Karim won the 400m in a time of 48.87. The 4x100 relay team (42.21) captured first place edging out Navy at the finish line.

Also picking up victories for the Bobcats, were Chris Harper in the 110 high hurdles (15.38), Steve Schaub in the 400 hurdles (56.34), Eli Kiener in the shot put (51'05.75) and Brett Williamson in the javelin (191'09.00).

Navy won seven events, doing well in the distance events. Doug Kay (1:55.68) and Bert Rodriguez (1:56.78) finished 1-2 respectively in the 800m run. Erik Schmidt, Rodriguez and Brian Harrington finished in the top five in the 1500m run.

The Bobcats are back on the track at the Raliegh Relays on March 30-31.
