ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio University women’s track & field team returns to action this weekend with a pair of split-squad events spanning the continental United States.

Ohio will send four student-athletes to the Stanford Invitational, held Friday and Saturday in Palo Alto, Calif. The remainder of the team heads to Rock Hill, S.C., to compete at the Winthrop Invitational.

The Stanford Invitational begins each day at noon (EST) with field events. On Friday, running events begin at 1:40 p.m. and continue to about 2:30 a.m. On Saturday, running events begin at noon and conclude at about 8:30 p.m.

The Winthrop Invitational gets into full swing on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. (EST) and will continue on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Junior Juli Accurso (Casstown, Ohio), a 2013 cross country All-American and indoor All-MAC selection, will anchor the Ohio distance unit at the Stanford Invitational. Accurso will race in the 10,000m for the first time during the 2013 outdoor season.

Accurso will be joined in the event by rising sophomore Morgan Reichert (Pataskala, Ohio), who recently put the finishing touches on an outstanding indoor season. Reichert finished ninth (17:17.87) in the 5,000m at the MAC Indoor Championships. She also kicked off her 2013 outdoor season with a sixth-place finish in the 5,000m (17:24.86) at the Wake Forest Open on March 16.

Junior Melissa Thompson (Westerville, Ohio), who earned All-MAC honors this winter, will head to Palo Alto to race in the 5,000m run. Thompson won the one mile run at the MAC Indoor Championships and will look to carry her strong indoor performances into the outdoor season.
