ATHENS, Ohio - Three members of the Ohio University women's track & field team were named to the Academic All-MAC team Wednesday for their efforts on the track and in the classroom during the 2013 indoor season.
Senior Kiley Mathews (Cortland, Ohio) and juniors Juli Accurso (Casstown, Ohio) and Melissa Thompson (Westerville, Ohio) represented the Bobcats on the annual league academic roster. Accurso and Thompson received Academic All-MAC honors for the second-straight season.
In addition, sophomores Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) and Morgan Reichert (Pataskala, Ohio) and freshmen Kayla Scott (Canal Winchester, Ohio) and Hayley Stegemiller (Lebanon, Ohio) garnered Academic All-MAC Honorable Mention accolades.
To earn a spot on the Academic All-MAC Team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of her team's contests.

ACADEMIC ALL-MAC TEAM
Juli Accurso | Junior | 3.861 GPA | Global Studies (Europe), French
Accurso won the 3,000m run in 9:36.43 and finished fourth in the one mile run in 4:51.76 at the 2013 MAC Indoor Championships. She also was part of the Indoor DMR team that broke the MAC meet record with a time of 11:26.80. Accurso finished the event with a combined 17.5 points, which ranked her sixth among individual competitors. The Casstown, Ohio, native also won the one mile run at the Buckeye Tune-Up (Feb. 16) and placed fourth in the 3,000m run at the prestigious Meyo Invitational (Feb. 3). Her 5,000m run time of 16:13.56 at the Alex Wilson Invitational (March 2) was tops in the MAC this season.

Mathews was part of the quartet that captured the DMR title and set a new MAC meet record at the Indoor Championships. The time (11:26.80) shattered the previous meet record (11:33.39) by close to seven seconds. It was the 24th fastest in the nation this season.
Melissa Thompson | Junior | 3.871 GPA | Journalism, Women's and Gender Studies
Thompson won the one mile run in a personal-best time of 4:48.22 at the MAC Indoor Championships, which set a new Ohio school record in the event. Thompson's time was the fastest in the Mid-American Conference in 2013. The Westerville, Ohio, native also was part of the Indoor DMR team that broke the MAC meet record with a time of 11:26.80 at the event.
ACADEMIC ALL-MAC HONORABLE MENTION
Chanda Cuckler | Sophomore | 3.487 | Pre-Nursing
Cuckler finished seventh (2,835 pts) in the pentathlon to earn two points for Ohio at the 2013 MAC Indoor Championships. It was the eighth best score amongst all competitors during the 2013 indoor season. The Athens, Ohio, native also finished first in the pentathlon at the YSU National Invite (Feb. 2) and posted the 12th-best high jump mark (1.67m) amongst MAC competitors this season while capturing the event title at the Tiffin University Carnival.
Morgan Reichert | Sophomore | 3.526 GPA | Long Term Health Care Administration, Health Services Administration, Gerontology
Reichert was just outside the scoring finishes at the MAC Indoor Championships, as the sophomore placed ninth in the 5,000m in a personal best time of 17:17.87. She also won the 3,000m at the Tiffin University Carnival (Jan. 19) and finished ninth at the event at the competitive Hoosier Hills race in a personal-best time of 9:55.63.
Kayla Scott | Freshman | 3.411 GPA | Marketing, Pre-Sport Management
Scott earned a point for the Bobcats by finishing eighth in the 3,000m (9:57.89) at the 2013 MAC Indoor Championships. Scott also placed fourth in the event at the Hoosier Hills in a personal-best time of 9:46.78 on Feb. 9. It was the eighth best time amongst MAC competitors this season. She also raced in the 5,000m (17:17.90) at the MAC Indoors and finished 10th out of 20 competitors in the final.
Hayley Stegemiller | Freshman | 3.791 GPA | Biological Sciences
Stegemiller finished 12th in the pentathlon at the 2013 MAC Indoor Championships with a personal-best 2,940 points. The finish included career-bests in the long jump (1.54m), 60m hurdles (10.14) and shot put (9.30m). She finished fourth in the 800m portion of the event. During the indoor season, the freshman also finished seventh in the pentathlon at the YSU National Invite, including a race victory in the 800m (2:25.23). Her 800m time of 2:23.84 at the Tom Wright Classic was a personal best and earned her a fifth-place finish.
The Bobcats return to action this weekend (April 12-13) at the All-Ohio Championships. The event kicks off in Athens Friday at 2 p.m.
