ATHENS, Ohio –
The Ohio University women’s track & field team wraps up the 2014 regular season Friday by playing host to the Ohio Open at the Goldsberry Track & Field Complex.

The meet will mark the last chance for Ohio student-athletes to qualify for the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships to be held May 15-17 in Athens.

Field events will get underway Friday at 2:30 p.m. with the men’s shot put and women’s discus. Track action begins at 3:30 p.m. with the women’s 5000m run.

Ohio will compete in the home meet with student-athletes from MAC opponent Kent State, as well as Marshall, Central State, Rio Grande, Muskingum, Georgetown College, Ursuline and Marietta, among others.

Ryan also will compete in the hammer throw along with Ohio school record holder Donyelle Brown (Reynoldsburg, Ohio), senior Lauren McCullough (Lancaster, Ohio) and junior Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.). Brown has already earned a MAC auto bid in the event.

In jumps action, junior Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) and freshman Taylor Smith (Canal Winchester, Ohio) will compete for the Bobcats in the high jump at 4 p.m. Both student-athletes should earn at large bids into the event at the MAC Outdoors but will be looking to lock up an auto bid on Friday.

Sophomore Tessa Weigand (Akron, Ohio) will anchor the Ohio contingent in the 1500m run (4:25 p.m.) and will be joined by fellow sophomores Sarah Kaufman (Zanesville, Ohio) and Stephanie Loshbough (Johnstown, Ohio).
