ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio track and field team will play host to the Ohio Open on Saturday afternoon at Goldsberry Track in the squad's final tune-up before the Mid-American Conference Championships on May 16-17.

The Bobcats will compete against student-athletes from Capital, Marietta, Tiffin and the West Virginia club track team.

The will be between four and seven competitors in each event, including men's and women's competition.

Competition will kick-off with the shot put and hammer at 10 a.m. at the throwing areas next to Chessa Field. The long jump, high jump, discus and javelin will follow at noon. The pole vault will begin at 12:30 p.m.

The first track event will be the 5,000 meters at 11:30 a.m. with the 4x100 meter relay, 1,500 meters and 100 meters hurdles all starting before 1 p.m.

From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the 400 meters, 100 meters, 800 meters, 400 meter hurdles and 200 meters will begin.

The final events of the day will be the steeplechase at 2:15 p.m. and the 4x400 meter relay at 3 p.m.

The Bobcats won their first home meet of the year last weekend, crushing the competition at the Green and White Invite by compiling 322.5 team points. Marshall placed second with 141.5 team points.
