Track Competes At Roanoke/VT Twilight Qualifier

Senior Alexa Macri won the discus throw Thursday in Salem, Va.

SALEM, Va. — The Ohio University women’s track & field team sent a quartet of student-athletes to compete in the Roanoke/Virginia Tech Twilight Qualifier Thursday at Roanoke College.

Senior Alexa Macri (St. Clairsville, Ohio) led the Bobcats after posting her first victory of the season in the discus throw. Macri registered a mark of 42.66m to win the event. Freshman Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) placed second with a mark of 38.37m.

Ryan also competed in the hammer throw, where she placed third with a throw of 41.86m.

In the 1500m run, senior Melissa Thompson (Westerville, Ohio) finished second in a time of 4:27.28, while sophomore Tessa Weigand (Akron, Ohio) was fourth in 4:50.35.

The Bobcats return to action May 15-17 when Ohio hosts the 2014 MAC Outdoor Championships at the Goldsberry Track & Field Complex.
