CLEVELAND - Outdoor track & field placed five Bobcats on the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, as announced by the league office. Seniors Susan Plungis and Jessie Tanner and juniors Emily Amendola, Annie Beecham and Kari Summers were all named to the squad, tied with Miami for the second-most from one school. MAC Champion Akron led all schools with seven on the list.
Beecham, Summers and Tanner were tabbed for the second time this year, as the trio also made the Indoor Academic All-MAC Team. Four Bobcats on the list qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional, capping a successful outdoor season that saw the team place fifth in the MAC and Summers win two conference titles, with Plungis also earning a runner-up finish and Tanner placing in three events.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
