Track Races Into Action At YSU Icebreaker

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University women's track & field team kicks off the 2013-14 season at the YSU Icebreaker Friday at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS) in Youngstown, Ohio.

Ohio Is one of 14 teams competing at the event. Other participating squads include the host Penguins, Notre Dame (Ohio), Robert Morris, Slippery Rock, Duquesne, Clarion, Washington & Jefferson, Waynesburg, Indiana (Pa.), Thiel, Buffalo State, Ursuline (Ohio), Westminster.

Field events will begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday, while track events commence at 4 p.m. Fans can follow the meet via live stats by clicking here.

Leading the pack for the Bobcats will be senior Juli Accurso (Casstown, Ohio) who recently put the finishing touches on another All-America cross country campaign. Accurso will compete in the 3,000m run at 8:10 p.m. along with sophomore Caroline Hildebrand (Hilliard, Ohio). Accurso won the 3,000m run at last season's MAC Indoor Championships.

Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.) will pace the Bobcats in the weight throw and shot put events. The junior finished 15th in the shot put at the 2013 MAC Indoor Championships.

Rising junior Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) will compete in the high jump after finishing fourth at MAC Indoors last season. She'll be joined by sophomore Hayley Stegemiller (Lebanon, Ohio), freshman Taylor Smith (Canal Winchester, Ohio) and freshman Hailee Cannady (Columbus, Ohio).

After Friday's meet, Ohio will take more than a month off before returning to action on Jan. 25 at the Tom Wright Classic in Bowling Green, Ohio.
