Ridge Robinson Leads Ohio Cross Country Team

ATHENS, Ohio - In the first meet of the season, Ohio University freshman Ridge Robinson (Navarre, Ohio) rushed out of the gates for the individual title, running faster than 36 other runners Saturday and leading the Ohio men's cross country team to a first-place finish at the Ohio University Green and White Invitational. The Bobcat women were led by junior Kendra Churchill (Dublin, Ohio), who placed 2nd, as Ohio also finished first in the women's division. Churchill come in second in the women's field with an 19:50 mark on the 5K track, while Shawnee Emmert from Shawnee State placed first with a time of 19:37.6. The Bobcats had three runners finish in the top five, with Churchill finishing second, Kelley Friedmann (Cincinnati, Ohio) finishing fourth and Sarah LeDonne (Wexford, Penn.) finishing fifth. Ohio won the women's division by a tie-breaker over Shawnee State, followed by Robert Morris and Rio Grande. On the men's side, Robinson was one of four Bobcats to finish in the top-5. Eaton ran a 16:10 in the race, and was followed close behind by fellow Bobcats Will Rover (Maine, Ohio), Brock Schwartz (Alliance, Ohio) and Carey Tighe (Cincinnati, Ohio), who finshed 3-4-5.
Ohio won the men's division with ease, followed by Shawnee State and Robert Morris. Rio Grande and Ohio Valley University also participated in the event. Next on the slate for Ohio is a trip to Bowling Green, where the men's and women's teams will compete in the Mel Brodt Invitational on Sept 16. |
