BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - It was a successful opening weekend for the women's and men's cross country teams with first and second place finishes, respectively, at the Mel Brodt Invite hosted by Bowling Green State University.

The men's team earned second place with 64 team points but Ohio's Craig Leon (Van Wert) crossed the finish line first overall in the men's 8k run with a time of 24.39.21. Shamus Eaton (Uniontown), Ridge Robinson (Navarre), Brian King (Richfield, Minn.) and Todd Holbrook (Dayton) also had times in the top-25 to round out Ohio's scoring five.

The women's team's 44 points earned them first place in the overall team standings, lead by Carime Reinhart's (Bascom) second place finish and Kari Summers's (Troy) third place finish. Annie Beecham (Granville), Julia Weisenborn (Bowling Green) and Rachel Beakas (Waterville) all recorded top-25 times to round out the Ohio top-five.
