Maas Leads Bobcats To Second-Place Finish At Ohio Invite

ATHENS, Ohio - Senior Andrea Maas (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed first overall and four Bobcats finished in the meet's top-15 as the Ohio women's cross country team placed second in a six-team field at Saturday's Ohio Invite. Ohio tallied 49 team points, trailing only race winner Baldwin Wallace (40). The Bobcat men's team finished third in a five-team field and earned 53 team points, which trailed only second-place Concord (40) and race winner West Virginia Wesleyan. Maas was the top Ohio finisher in the 5K race, with a time of 19:10.90. Her time was almost 40 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Also placing in the meet's top-15 were sophomore Julia Weisenborn (Bowling Green, Ohio), freshman Sarah LeDonne (Wexford, Pa.), and freshman Randi Robertson (Avon Lake, Ohio). Weisenborn grabbed sixth-place with a time of 20:35.80, while LeDonne and Robertson took 10th and 12th place with times of 20:43.20 and 20:56.50. On the men's side, the Bobcats were led by freshman Brock Schwarz (Alliance, Ohio). Schwarz finished fourth overall in the 8K race with a time of 27:57.30. Ohio had seven runners finish in the top-20.
Finishing in third in a talented field of runners, Ohio place ahead of Baldwin Wallace (fourth) and Alderson Broaddus (fifth). Next on the slate for the Bobcats is a trip to South Bend, Ind. where the men's and women's teams will compete in the Notre Dame Invitational on Sept 29. |
