Leon's Third Place Finish Leads Ohio at ND Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Ohio senior Craig Leon took third place in the Gold Division at the Notre Dame Invitational and led the men's cross country team to a seventh place finish. The senior from Van Wert, Ohio, has not finished out of the medals in the first three meets of the 2007 season, taking first twice and now third with a time of 24:56 amongst 209 competitors. Ridge Robinson (Navarre) was the second best Bobcat placer, taking 16th with a time of 25:24. Brian King (Hilliard) took 44th, Shamus Eaton (Uniontown) finished in 54th and Todd Holbrook's (Dayton) 80th rounded out Ohio's top five runners. While the men rested after their afternoon race, the Ohio women's cross country took off in the evening, competing in the top-tier Blue Division. Top-10 nationally ranked Illinois, Michigan and Providence all finished in the top-10 while the Bobcats, behind Kari Summers' 45th finish, took 15th out of 21 schools. Summers (Troy) recorded a Bobcat best 17:47 on the 5k course at the Notre Dame Gold Club. Carime Reinhart (Boscom), Annie Beecham (Granville), Julia Weisenborn (Bowling Green) and Melissa Hornor (Hilliard), who placed seventh at last weekend's Ohio Invitational rounded out the top five women's finishers.
The Bobcats will compete against the schools from around the state next weekend in the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. ---------------------------- Joe Waltasti is the cross country contact in the Ohio media relations office.
