Both Men's and Women's Teams Place in Top Three at All-Ohio Championship

ATHENS, Ohio - Craig Leon placed in the medals once again at the All-Ohio Championships in Delaware, Ohio, leading the men's team to a third place finish. But the women's team, led by Carime Reinhart, Annie Beecham and Kari Summers all placing in the top-10, raced to a second place finish in the state-wide meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. Reinhart (Boscom) paced the Bobcats with a time of 18:43.5 which was good for fifth place out of 296 competitors. Beecham (Granville) and Summers (Troy) finished just more than a second apart in seventh and eighth. Julia Weisenborn (Bowling Green) took 16th and Melissa Hornor (Hilliard) finished in 44th to round out the women's top-five runners.
Miami took the women's team title behind Laura Nuefarth's second place finish. The Redhawks edged Ohio by just five total team points. Leon (Van Wert) had the best finish amongst Division-I runners with a time of 25:24.1 but a pair of Division-II competitors, Ryan Kienzle and Nik Schweikert from Malone College finished first and second, respectively. Malone took the team title with three of the top four finishes for a team score of 32. Cincinnati took second with a team score of 92 and Ohio placed third as a team with a score of 179. Ridge Robinson's 11th pace finish was the second best for the Bobcats and Ohio's top-five runners also included Brian King (Richfield, Minn.) in 16th, Kevin Dean (Granville) in 62nd and Todd Holbrook (Dayton) in 84th. The Bobcats will compete in next weekend's Pre-Nationals event in Terre Haute, Ind., as they prepare for the MAC Championships on Oct. 27. ---------------------------- Joe Waltasti is the cross country contact in the Ohio media relations office.
