ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio's cross country teams and standout Carime Reinhart ran and studied their way to a spot on the NCAA Division I All-Academic Cross Country Teams.

A total of 86 teams received Division I Men's All-Academic Cross Country Team honors for the 2006 season. To be honored as an All-Academic Team, teams must compete in an NCAA Regional meet and have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Ohio's men's cross country squad had a cumulative GPA of 3.247. The Bobcat men recorded one team title with a victory at the Green and White Invite on September 9, 2006. The men's squad, led by senior Brian King, took home fifth place at the MAC Championship.

An amazing total of 145 teams received Division I Women's All-Academic Cross Country Team honors for the 2006 season. To be honored as an All-Academic Team, teams are required to compete in an NCAA Regional meet and have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Ohio's women's cross country team had a cumulative GPA of 3.461.The women's squad took home four team titles this season with team wins in the Green and White Invite, the Mel Brodt Invite, the All-Ohio Championships, and the MAC Championship, which was Ohio's first MAC Championship team title since 1997. Carime Reinhart led the women as she took home the women's individual title. It was Ohio's first individual MAC title since 1998.

Ohio's cross country teams received team honors, but the Bobcats also received an individual honor. Bobcat junior Carime Reinhart earned 2006 NCAA Division I All-Academic Women's Cross Country Individual Honors. She was the only MAC runner to receive the honor. Reinhart was also only one of three women runners in the MAC to earn both All-MAC first team honors and Academic All-MAC honors. At the NCAA Regionals, the junior was the fastest Mid-American Conference runner in the field, placing 19th with a time of 21:50.60. Reinhart was just 38.44 seconds away from qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
