ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams begin their 2007 season on Saturday at the 21st annual Mel Brodt Invite hosted by Bowling Green State University.

The women's team, picked to repeat as MAC Champions in 2007, will start at 10:45 a.m. while the men's team, picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll, will hear the gun at 11:30 a.m.

The meet, named after legendary BGSU cross country coach Mel Brodt, will be held at Bowling Green's Forrest Creason Golf Course.

Both the men's and women's teams will be competing from Ohio, Ashland, Findlay, Oakland (Mich.), Northwood, Toledo, Youngstown State, Ohio Wesleyan, and Malone (Ohio head coach Clay Calkin's alma mater).

Ohio State and Cleveland State will only be sending its women's teams and just Tiffin University's men's cross country team will be making the trip.

Ohio returns Carime Reinhart, last year's 1st place finisher at the MAC Championship. Reinhart also earned first-team All-MAC honors in 2006 and placed 19th at the NCAA Regionals, the best finish by a MAC competitor. Reinhart is joined by sophomore Kari Summers, who was also named to the first-team All-MAC squad, and Second-Team All-MAC selection Annie Beecham.
