ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio cross country team will be looking to earn state-wide bragging rights on Friday when they travel to the All-Ohio Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

Craig Leon (Van Wert) will also be looking to maintain his recent run of top-three finishes. Leon, a graduate student, has won two events this season, the Mel Brodt Invite and the Ohio Invitational, and recently took third at last weekend's Notre Dame Invitational.

The All-Ohio Championships was first run in 1955 when John Miller's first place finish led Oberlin to the team championship. Ohio's first team victory in the event was in 1962 but in 1960, Bobcat Ray Fleming took first individually. Ohio State has won the last three men's events and Ohio's most recent men's title came in 1996 when Josh Ritchie's first place finish paced the `Cats.

In 1981, the women's race was added to the All-Ohio Championship and Bowling Green won the inaugural race. The next season, Ohio took home the team title and the Bobcats have won the women's event eight times since its inception, the most recent coming last season.

In 2006, the Bobcats had five top-20 finishers including four that will compete again on Friday. Carime Reinhart (Boscom) took 11th with a time of 18:52 and Melissa Horner (Hilliard) rounded out the top-five Bobcats with a 19th place finish and a time of 19:15.30. Kari Summers, this week's Women's MAC Cross Country Runner of the Week, took 15th at the All-Ohio Championships last season, with a time of 19:06.40.

The Bobcats will run in Pre-Nationals next weekend in Terre Haute, Ind., before competing in the MAC Championship on Oct. 27, at Central Michigan.
