Reinhart Named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week
Nov. 2, 2006
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Ohio Cross Country runner Carime Reinhart (Bascom, Ohio) was named Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week following her standout performance at the MAC Championships on Oct. 29. Reinhart captured first place out of 101 women runners in the 5k race with a time of 20:02.90, helping the women Bobcats take home the MAC Conference title. Her performance also earned her a spot on the All-MAC first team for the third year in a row. Reinhart was the first Bobcat runner to win a MAC individual title since 1998 and it was the team's first conference title since 1997. "Carime has done a great job for us for three years now," said Head Coach Clay Calkins. "I feel that the sky's the limit for her potential. She's one of the hardest workers in the classroom and at practice, and her hard work has paid off. She definitely deserves the award." This was Reinhart's first time receiving the league's weekly academic award, but she has been named to the Academic All-MAC team three times, including this season, the 2005 cross country season and the 2006 outdoor track season. Reinhart is a junior speech pathology major. The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and who performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives. Reinhart and the Bobcats return to action Nov. 11 for the NCAA Regional's in Bowling Green, Ohio.
