Ohio Places Four Runners on MAC Honor Roll

Cleveland, Ohio -The Ohio cross country team placed four runners on the 2000 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Honor Roll, announced on Nov. 16.

Seniors Jackie Waller and Jackie Conrad, along with junior Katie Fiala were named for the women's team, while junior Brandon Grinwis represents the men's squad.

Waller (New Port Richey, Fla.) had a stellar season for the Bobcats. She finished in the top three four times this year, including first (18:16) at the Ohio Invitational. Waller, the team MVP, was named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week on Oct. 10. She has a 3.81 GPA in business administration.

Conrad (Marysville) was hampered by injuries most of her senior campaign. The former MAC champion placed eighth (23:06) at the Indiana State Invitational. She has a 3.61 GPA in dietetics.

Fiala (Rocky River) had a strong junior campaign. She finished fourth (18:30) at the Ohio Invitational and 10th (19:35) at the Bowling Green Meet. Fiala was named the most improved runner this year. She has a 3.12 GPA in early childhood development.

Grinwis (Hudson) was one of the Bobcats' most consistent runners this year. He finished 10th (27:16) at the Bowling Green Meet and 15th (26:35) at the Ohio Invitational. Grinwis has a 3.74 GPA in business and marketing.

Student-athletes must obtain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher and earn a letter for the current season to be eligible for the honor. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible as student-athletes must have attended that institution for an entire year.
