ATHENS, Ohio – After his stellar performance in the Bobcats win over Kansas, 42-30, Saturday, Ohio redshirt junior running back A.J. Ouellette has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week, announced the league office Monday.
Ouellette was the first Ohio player to hit 100 or more rushing yards this season, rushing for 102 yards on 10 carries against Kansas. Ouellette also scored a touchdown averaging 10.2 yards per carry. Ouellette also had the second-longest rush of his career against the Jayhawks, a 63-yard carry.
It marked the first game that Ouellette had reached the 100-yard plateau since Nov. 24, 2015 at Northern Illinois. Ouellette missed all but three plays of the 2016 season due to an injury.
Ouellette leads the Bobcats this season averaging 67.7 yards per game with two touchdowns and a 6.2 yards per rush average.
Ohio opens Mid-American Conference play at Eastern Michigan on Saturday. Kickoff against the Eagles is set for 2 p.m. ET.
