Nate Faanes enters his first season as the Ohio football program's linebackers coach in 2019 under 15th-year head coach Frank Solich after spending the previous three seasons as a graduate assistant for the Bobcats.

Faanes assisted Ron Collins, who served as Ohio's linebackers coach for eight seasons before being promoted to defensive coordinator/safeties coach in Februrary of 2019, the last two seasons after working with the running backs in 2016. Quentin Poling (First Team, 2017), Chad Moore (Second Team, 2017) and Evan Croutch (Second Team, 2018) garnered All-Mid-American Conference honors during his time as the graduate assistant for the linebackers.

Prior to arriving in Athens, Faanes served as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 2013-15. During his tenure with the Blugolds, Faanes coached tight ends, quarterbacks and running backs. 

Faanes was the quarterbacks coach at Winona Senior High School from 2009-12. He graduated from Eau Claire North High School in Eau Claire, Wis., in 2009 and from Winona State in '15.
