Thirteen former Bobcats to return to campus for alumni game
2009: Team co-captain ... Earned First-Team All-MAC honors ... Named co-MAC Pitcher of the Week March 30 after throwing a season-long 8.2 innings and allowing just one run at Western Michigan (3/27) ... Tied a career high with nine strikeouts May 8 at Miami ... Also recorded eight strikeouts twice (March 6 at Tennessee and at Western Michigan) ... Went 5-5 with a 6.48 ERA, with the five wins tying for ninth in the MAC ... Started a team-high 13 games (all of his appearances) ... Threw a team-best 83.1 innings, ranking third in the MAC, while tossing a team-best 66 strikeouts, tying for sixth in the MAC ... His 60.1 innings pitched in MAC games were the most in the league ... Issued 30 walks and had 16 wild pitches ... Opponents hit .325 off of him .... Surrendered 115 hits, 77 runs and 60 earned runs ... Did not have an outing of less than five innings ... Finished career with 198 strikeouts, sixth all-time at Ohio, and 274 innings pitched, fifth in Ohio history.
2008 Summer League: Played for the Winchester Royals of the Shenandoah Valley Baseball League, helping them to a 28-19 record and a second-place finish in the North Division ... Saw action in nine games on the mound, while starting four games ... Went 1-2 with a 5.02 ERA in 28.2 innings pitched ... Earned one save over the summer ... Allowed 16 earned runs on 30 hits ... Struck out 39 batters, which was fourth on the team, but issued a team-high 18 free passes ... Held opposing batters to a .265 average ... Picked off a runner.
2008: Named to the All-Mid-American Conference Tournament Team ... Honored as MAC's East Pitcher of the Week four times (Feb. 26, March 31, April 28, May 18) ... Started 14 games on the mound, which is tied for fifth all-time on Ohio's single-season list and tied for second in the MAC ... Tied for the team lead with six wins, going 6-3 with an ERA of 5.07, which ranked 20th in the league among starting pitchers ... Pitched a team-high 97.2 innings, which was first in the conference and is fifth on Ohio's single-season list ... Threw four complete games, which led the MAC ... Allowed 89 hits and 55 earned runs, despite holding opposing batters to an average of .242, which was fourth in the MAC and best on the team ... Rung up 77 batters, which was by far the most on the team (30 more than second) and tied for second in the league ... Pitched at least 6.0 innings in 12 of his 14 starts ... Had his best outing March 29 versus Western Michigan, when he pitched a complete game, allowing just one unearned run on six hits and struck out a season-high nine Broncos in the win ... Had five or more strikeouts in 11 of his starts ... On May 15 at Buffalo threw a complete game in which he allowed no earned runs and just five hits, while striking out seven Bulls in the win ... Pitched back-to-back complete game wins to close the season.
2007 Summer League: Played for the Delaware Cows of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League ... Had four wins, no losses and a 2.55 ERA over the course of the summer ... Struck out 26 batters in eight appearances on the mound ... Picked up one save.
2007: Began the season in the bullpen but came on as a starter midway through the season ... Appeared in 17 games with eight starts ... Led all starters with a 4.18 ERA on the year ... Led the team with two complete games and one shutout and tied for the team lead with two saves ... Threw a team-high 71 innings and was third on the team with 42 strikeouts ... Also finished third on the team with a .258 opponent batting average ... Finished the year with a 2-4 record ... Threw a complete game, one-hit shutout against Miami on May 11 ... Allowed a hit on the first pitch he threw against the RedHawks but did not allow another hit the rest of the game ... Also threw an eight-inning complete game April 13 at Eastern Michigan and allowed two runs in a 2-0 loss ... Made all eight of his starts in MAC weekend play ... Was named the MAC East Pitcher of the Week on May 14.
2006 Summer League: Played for the Delaware Cows of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League along with current Ohio teammate Zach Elmer ... Earned All-GLSCL Second Team honors ... Posted a 2-3 record with a 1.59 ERA in nine appearances ... Rung up 20 hitters in 28.1 innings while limiting opposing batters to a .206 average.
2006: Finished second on the team with 19 appearances - all out of the bullpen ... Set an Ohio freshman record with six saves, which also tied him for the fourth-most in a single season in Bobcat history ... Led Ohio with 13 games finished ... Limited opponents to a team-best .210 batting average ... Made his collegiate debut at Western Kentucky on Feb. 26 and tossed 2.2 innings ... Recorded saves against Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Youngstown State, Ball State, Eastern Michigan and Kent State.
High School: Captain and Most Valuable Player at St. Ignatius High School ... Finished 9-0 with a 1.57 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 35.2 innings pitched as a senior ... A first-team all-conference selection and Cleveland Plain Dealer First-Team All-Cuyahoga County pick ... Helped lead the Wildcats to the state semifinals in 2004 and the district championship game in 2005 ... Also lettered twice in football.
