Student Assistant

Yale Silverman is in his first season as a student assistant for the Bobcats after wrapping up an incredible career with Ohio baseball. He has completed his bachelor's degree and is pursuing a master's of public administration. Silverman's year-by-year accomplishments include:

2006: Led Ohio - and ranked third in the MAC - with a 2.62 ERA ... His ERA was the lowest for an Ohio player since 1996 ... Also led the team with 20 appearances and recorded the lowest opponent's batting average at .234 ... Registered 45 strikeouts and 15 walks in a career-high 72.0 innings of work ... Went 3-1 and recorded a 2.95 ERA in 36.2 innings in seven starts ... Went 1-2 in 35.1 innings with a 2.29 ERA in 13 relief appearances ... Ranked second in the MAC with a 2.03 ERA in league-only games ... Ohio's best hurler out of the gate as he allowed just one earned run during the first three innings of his seven starts ... Finished second on the team with two saves and his career total of seven ranks sixth all-time at Ohio ... Tossed in both games of a doubleheader at Buffalo on April 22 and allowed one run in eight innings with seven strikeouts ... Went 8.2 innings against Akron on May 7 in his first career MAC start and allowed three earned runs on five hits ... Tossed Ohio's only complete game shutout of the year - and first of his career - in his last start as a Bobcat against Bowling Green on May 19 ... Allowed just four hits with seven strikeouts and one walk in the shutout ... Was named MAC East Division Pitcher of the Week on May 22 for his performance against Bowling Green ... Finished his career with a 3.36 ERA in 48 games and 160.2 innings pitched.

2005: Appeared in a team-high 20 games as a relief pitcher ... Posted a 2-4 record with a 3.40 earned run average ... Held opponents to a .265 batting average ... Led the team with four saves ... Had 55.2 innings pitched, most among non-starters ... Went a month (six appearances) without allowing an earned run ... Was part of two combined shutouts ... Ohio's most effective seventh inning pitcher with 14 strikeouts, just one walk and one run allowed in 12 games ... Recorded four strikeouts in a season-high 6.2 innings at Furman on Feb. 27 ... Had six strike outs while allowing only one hit and no earned runs in three innings of work against Cleveland State on March 29.

2004: A walk-on who saw action in eight games with two starts ... Was 1-3 with a 4.91 ERA ... Finished sixth on the team in innings pitched with 33 ... Recorded 16 strikeouts on the season ... Made his first collegiate appearance against Pittsburgh going 5-1/3 innings giving up six runs, two earned, on nine hits ... Won his first collegiate game at Wright State on April 7 with seven innings of relief, allowing just one run and five hits.
