ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University baseball team's (1-1) second rally attempt of the afternoon fell short in game two of its doubleheader with Murray State on Sunday as the Bobcats fell 7-6.

Despite the loss, Ohio once again received a strong performance from freshman centerfielder Mitch Longo (Mayfield, Ohio) as he went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Senior rightfielder Scott White (Jacksonville, Fla.) continued to swing a hot bat as he tallied a pair of hits, drove in two RBI and scored one run.

Junior Tyler Wells (Lexington, Ky.) also chipped in offensively for the Bobcats as he went 2-for-5 and one RBI.

Sophomore right-hander Jake Miller (Westerville, Ohio) started the game for the Bobcats, but did not figure into the decision after he worked 3.1 innings, gave up five earned runs and allowed seven hits.

Sophomore Connor Sitz (Westerville, Ohio) suffered the loss for Ohio after he gave up the Racers go-ahead run in the sixth. Sitz worked 1.2 innings, gave up three hits and allowed one earned run.

Ohio jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top half of the first inning. MSU fought back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame. The `Cats extended their lead to two at 4-2 as it plated one run in the fourth.

Similar to game one with the Racers, Ohio found itself behind in the sixth inning following a four-run fourth by MSU. Following its half of the sixth, Ohio had once again evened the count a six apiece thanks to a two-run double by White, which scored Nick Bredeson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and Tyler Finkler (Olmsted Falls, Ohio).

Murray State however had an answer for the comeback `Cats as it plated one run in the bottom half of the sixth to reclaim a lead that it would not relinquish.

Ohio returns to action on Feb. 21 as it takes on Liberty at Noon in the UNC-Wilmington Tournament in Wilmington, N.C.
