ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University baseball team (13-15; 3-3 MAC) ended its home stand with an 11-2 loss to Cincinnati Tuesday night at Bob Wren Stadium, dropping the Bobcats' home record to 9-6.

Ohio freshman Jake Madsen (Cincinnati, Ohio) extended his hitting streak to 21 games going 2-for-4 with an RBI and senior Jensen Painter got on base for the 28th straight game. Freshman Cody Gaertner (Allison Park, Pa.), junior Dan Schmidt (Kamiak, Wash.) and senior Ethan Newton (Norfolk, Va.) also recorded hits for the Bobcats.

Cincinnati jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings and never looked back. UC would also add three runs in the fourth and two in the seventh.

Ohio struggled to find offense until the ninth inning when RBI singles from Madsen and Schmidt put the Bobcats on the board.

Ohio struggled on the mound as well with starting pitcher Scott White (Springboro, Ohio) lasted only 2.1 innings, allowing five runs (two earned runs) on six hits. Sophomore Tyler Stage (Grove City, Ohio), senior Shane Cole (Oakville, Ontario), freshman Tyler Plys (Parma, Ohio) and senior Shane Dedig (Albuquerque, New Mexico) also saw time on the mound. Dedig had the most success lasting 2.2 innings while striking out four.

UC benefited from solid pitching from freshman Ryan Atkinson who threw seven scoreless innings, allowed only three hits and recorded 11 strikeouts, the most by any Bearcat pitcher since 2010, in his first career start.

Bearcat center fielder Jake Proctor recorded three hits for UC and second baseman Ryan Quinn added three hits and three RBI, both of which were career-highs.

Ohio travels to face Marshall tomorrow at 3 pm. The Bobcats return to Bob Wren Stadium on April 13 where they will faceoff against Ball State.
