Emody collects two hits

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University baseball team dropped a 12-4 decision to Morehead State, Tuesday (April 22) at Bob Wren Stadium.

Junior Taylor Emody (Milan, Ohio) led Ohio's offense with two hits and one run, while junior Tyler Wells (Lexington, Ky.) and John Adryan (Delran, N.J.) each chipped in with one RBI.

Freshman Gerry Salisbury (Brunswick, Ohio) started on the mound for the `Cats, fanning three in 4.1 innings of work.

Morehead State jumped out to an early lead in the first, but the Bobcats fought back, tying it up at one apiece to end the inning. Ohio took the lead in the second inning after catcher Anthony Winters (Rosemount, Minn.) hit a sacrifice fly to deep center to bring Emody in.

The Eagles added three unearned runs at the start the third to pull ahead, 4-2. In the bottom half of the frame, Wells doubled to left field to drive in the `Cats' first run of the inning. He came around to score on a wild pitch to tie the game at 4-4 to end the inning.

Morehead State busted the game open with a seven-run fifth inning to take the lead and ensure the win.

Junior Logan Cozart (New Philedelphia) came out of the bullpen to make his 23rd appearance of the season, and struck out the side to hold the Eagles through the sixth. He is now scoreless in seven of his last eight appearances and leads the Bobcat bullpen with 24 strikeouts.

Freshman Christian Botter (Toronto, Canada) and senior Sean Kennedy (Columbus, Ohio) each posted a scoreless inning on the mound for Ohio.

The Bobcats return to action Friday with a three-game series against Mid-American Conference foe Eastern Michigan. First pitch is set to begin at 6 p.m. at Bob Wren Stadium. Fans can listen live on WOUB 1340am or follow along on ohiobobcats.com.
