ATHENS, Ohio - Junior Garrett Black clubbed three hits and drove in a run Friday night to guide the Ohio University baseball team to a 4-3 victory over the University of Buffalo inside Bob Wren Stadium.

Black's three-hit evening also extended his season-best hitting streak to seven games. During the seven-game stretch, Black is batting .400, going 12-of-30 at the plate.

Ohio's 3-4-5 hitters also came through in a big way as they combined to go 7-for-13. Sophomore John Adryan (Delran, N.J.) collected three hits, while juniors Jake Madsen (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Tyler Wells (Lexington, Ky.) tallied a pair of hits. Wells' two-hit evening extended his team-best hitting streak to eight games.

As a team, Ohio outhit Buffalo 13-6. The Bobcats have collected 10-or-more hits in 15 games this season.

Freshman Jake Roehn (Sandwich, Ill.) earned his team-best fourth win on the year after he worked 6.1 innings, allowed just three earned and scattered six hits.

Ohio jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning as senior Chandler Geller (Austin, Texas) came into score following a throwing error by UB shortstop Mike Scarcello. The Bulls committed a pair of miscues in the frame, but Ohio was only able to score one run in the inning.

The Bobcats struck again two innings later as it scored three runs on three hits. Nine-hole hitter Tyler Finkler (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) highlighted the frame with a two out RBI single into right field, which plated Adryan and freshman Ty Black (Waynesville, Ohio) from third and second base, respectively. Black also drove in a run in the frame as he singled into left field, which brought in freshman catcher Nick Bredeson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.).

Buffalo got on the board in the fourth as it scored one run on one hit to trim Ohio's lead to 4-1. UB leftfielder Matt Pollock led off the inning with a triple and would later come around to score following a sacrifice fly by Mike Burke.

The Bulls would go on to add runs in the sixth and seventh innings to trim Ohio's lead to one. UB loaded the bases with just one out in the seventh, but sophomore reliever Jake Miller (Westerville, Ohio) came out of the bullpen to record two quick outs to get the Bobcats out of the jam.

Ohio's bullpen continued to frustrate Buffalo as it held the Bulls without a hit for the reminder of the game. Junior Logan Cozart (New Philadelphia, Ohio) worked a scoreless eighth and freshman Corey Wells (Lexington, Ky.) came on to work a scoreless ninth to earn his team-best fourth save of the year.

UB starter Kevin Hughes suffered the loss after he worked 7.0 innings and gave up three earned runs. Leftfielder Matt Pollock led the way for the Bulls offensively as he went 3-for-5, scored two runs and was a home run shy of going for the cycle.
