BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Ohio University baseball team suffered an 11-4 setback to Bowling Green Friday afternoon at Steller Field.
Freshman Ty Black (Waynesville, Ohio) led the way offensively for Ohio after he went 1-for-4 at the plate with a team-best two RBI.
Fellow freshman Jake Roehn (Sandwich, Ill.) suffered the loss for Ohio and dropped to 4-7 on the year. Roehn worked just 2.1 innings and gave up eight earned runs and allowed 11 hits.
Ohio utilized three other pitchers on the afternoon in the form of Christian Botter (Toronto, Canada), Matt Mikolajczak (New Lenox, Ill.) and Jeremy Cronk (North Plans, Oregon). Mikolajczak and Cronk combined to work 2.2 innings, gave up just two hits and no earned runs.
Bowling Green jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and never looked back. Ohio did score one run in the third thanks to a solo home run in the third inning by junior Taylor Emody (Milan, Ohio) to trim the Falcons' lead to 5-1, but that was as close as the Bobcats would get for the remainder of the game.
The Falcons would go on to score three more runs in the third and three in the sixth to open up an 11-1 lead.
Ohio added three runs in the top half of the seventh to cut BG's lead to 11-4, but the `Cats were held scoreless for the remainder of the contest as the Falcons went on to secure the win.
BG starter Mike Frank earned the win for the Falcons as he worked 6.1 innings, scattered six hits and gave up just four earned runs.
