Ohio Loses Lead Late, Falls to UNC Greensboro
The Ohio baseball team led 2-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning Sunday afternoon, when UNC Greensboro's Ricky Orton hit a two-run home run to give the Spartans their first lead of the game, one they would not relinquish in a 3-2 victory in the rubber game at UNCG Baseball Stadium.
The Ohio University baseball team returns to action on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. as it takes on UNC-Greensboro. The Bobcats are in the midst of its 10 day spring break road trip where it will play eight games.
NOTING THE BOBCATS
-Ohio enters its mid-week matchup with UNC-Greensboro following a weekend where it went 1-2.
-The Bobcats' lone win over the weekend came in 3-2 victory over Georgia Southern.
-Ohio's win over Georgia Southern was its first road win on the year.
-Ohio enters the week with a .290 batting average, which ranks 57th in the country and third in the Mid-American Conference.
-The Bobcats have four players that are batting .300-or-better. Freshman Mitch Longo leads the squad with a batting average of .486.
-Ohio is one of five teams that have five true freshman that have played in half of its games this season.
-Longo had his eight-game hitting streak snapped this past weekend.
-Longo also ranks in the top five of five Mid-American Conference statistical categories.
-Tuesday starter Connor Sitz will make his second start of the year against UNC-Greensboro.
THE PITCHING MATCHUP

The Bobcats' matchup with UNC-Greensboro will mark the 19th all-time meeting. The last meeting occurred back on March 8-9, 2008 when the two teams took part in a three-game series in Greensboro, N.C. Ohio won the first game of the three-game set (13-10), but fell in games two (14-9) and three (3-2).
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNC-Greensboro enters its midweek matchup with Ohio having won four of its last five games. The Spartans are coming off a three-game sweep against Georgetown. The Spartans defeated Georgetown 7-1, 14-3 and 10-9. Junior Zac MacAneney leads the Spartans with a .412 batting average. Fellow junior Hunter King leads the squad with 12 RBI. Tuesday afternoon starter Andrew George will take the mound for the third time this spring. In three appearances this year, George owns a 8.22 earned run average. UNCG was picked eighth in the Southern Conference Preseason Poll.
LAST TIME OUT
The Ohio University baseball team posted a 1-2 record this past weekend. The Bobcats opened the weekend on a high note as they took down Georgia Southern 3-2 on Friday. Freshman Jake Roehn played a key role in the win as he went 6.0 innings and struck out a season-high nine batters to earn his first career win. Freshman Mitch Longo also had a strong day at the plate in the weekend opener as he went 4-for-4. The Bobcats' win over the Eagles snapped Georgia Southern's six-game winning streak. On Saturday, Ohio dropped a 7-3 decision to SIU-Edwardsville. Ohio closed its three-game set in Statesboro with a 20-5 loss to Georgia Southern. As a team, the finished the weekend with a .309 batting average and clubbed 30 hits over the weekend. Freshman Austin Rieman led all Ohio players with a .750 batting average.
