ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio baseball program has finalized its 2009 fall prospect camps schedule and announced the second camp will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, with the rain-out date, if necessary, set for Sunday, Oct. 4. The first fall prospect camp will be Saturday, Aug. 22, as originally announced, with the rain-out date slated for Sunday, Aug. 23.

The camps offer rising sophomore, junior and senior high-school student-athletes a chance to showcase their skills in front of both professional scouts and college coaches. In addition to the Ohio coaching staff, which runs the camps, a scout with the Colorado Rockies, as well as members from the coaching staffs of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), UNC Wilmington, Youngstown State, Eastern Michigan, Otterbein College, Marietta College, Ohio Wesleyan and Shawnee State were all in attendance for at least one the fall prospect camps in 2008.

Both camps begin with registration at 8 a.m. at Bob Wren Stadium and last until approximately 6:30 p.m. Included in the days' activities are a workout session in the morning and games in the afternoon, as well as strength training and NCAA compliance instruction sessions. Student-athletes will have the opportunity to work on throwing and fielding, as well as take batting practice during the first half of the camp.

Nine of Ohio's 11 scholarship student-athletes in the 2004 recruiting class and seven of the Ohio's 12 scholarship student-athletes in the 2005 recruiting class attended one of the previous showcase camps.

The cost of the camp is $205 and includes lunch and a t-shirt. Pre-registration is encouraged as only 72 student-athletes will be allowed at each camp. Information and registration forms are available here.
