Ohio Downs NIU 19-10 to Sweep Series
Freshman Ian Mezlak drove in a season-high six RBI to lead the Ohio University baseball team (16-15; 6-3) to a 19-10 victory and the series sweep over Northern Illinois Sunday afternoon.

The Ohio University baseball team (8-26) returns to action Friday night as it welcomes conference foe Northern Illinois to Bob Wren Stadium for the start of a three-game series against the Huskies. The first pitch of game one is set for 6 p.m. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday night's game will be aired on 1340 AM WOUB and OhioBobcats.com. "Voice of the Bobcats" Russ Eisenstein and Matt Digby will be calling the action live.

-Ohio's matchup with Northern Illinois will mark the sixth contest in a nine-game homestand for the Bobcats.
-The Bobcats had their midweek matchup with Marshall cut short because of poor weather conditions.
-Ohio has now had two games cancelled at home this season.
-Two of the Bobcats last three games have gone into extra innings.
-In 16 home games, Ohio is batting .287 as a team, which is 30 points higher than its overall average. Sophomore Jake Madsen's .382 batting average in 16 home games is a team best.
-Madsen leads the Bobcats with 46 hits.
-Madsen currently owns a team-best .364 batting average with runners in scoring position. He also has a team-best 24 RBI on the year.
-In total, Madsen leads the team in 11 offensive categories.
-Madsen is the only player on the team to hit out of the three hole and play first base in every game this season.
-Freshman Nate Squires has reached base in his last 13 games. Four other Ohio players have reached base in 10-consecutive games-or-more this season.
-Freshman Nate Squires is also batting a team-best .500 with two doubles in his last five games.
-Sophomore Tyler Wells needs just three hits shy of collecting his 100th career hit. Earlier this season, fellow sophomore Jake Madsen tallied his 100th career hit.
-Madsen, Wells and senior Dan Schmidt are the only players on the Bobcats' roster that have started in every game this season.
-Freshman Nick Squires also leads the Bobcats with 25 runs scored.
-Junior Logan Cozart entered the week with a league-best 21 appearances on the year.

Ohio will faceoff against Northern Illinois for the 46th time in school history on Friday. The Bobcats lead the all-time series with a 26-19. Ohio earned a 3-0 sweept over the Huskies a year ago at NIU. This is the Huskies first trip to Athens since 2011. In that meeting, the Huskies earned a 2-1 series victory at Bob Wren Stadium.

The Huskies (14-20) come into their weekend series with Ohio tied for the top spot in the MAC. Northern Illinois was picked finish in last place in the 2013 MAC Preseason Poll. The Huskies enter the weekend, having won five of their last seven games. Offensively, NIU owns a team batting average of .243, but has relied on some strong starting pitching to earn some key victories during the season. This year, NIU starters have contributed to nine of the Huskies' 14 wins this season. In addition, Northern Illinois has received some timely hitting, the Huskies enter the weekend with 32 runs driven with two outs.
