Bobcats Open Three-Game Series at Toledo

The Ohio University baseball team returns to action on Friday as it heads to Toledo for the start of a three-game series with the University of Toledo inside Scott Park. All three games this weekend will be broadcast live on WOUB 1340am and on OhioBobcats.com. "Voice of the Bobcats" Russ Eisenstein and Tom Symonds will have the call.

-Ohio is in the midst of a 13-game stretch where it will play 12 games against teams from the state of Ohio.
-Ohio has dropped 13 games by three runs or less this season.
-Ohio is 5-0 when leading after seven innings.
-The Bobcats have collected 10-or-more hits in 10 of their 33 games this season. -Ohio has turned a league-best 31 double plays this season coming into this week.
-The Bobcats are averaging 1.03 double plays per game, which ranks 22nd among all NCAA teams.
-Ohio returns to action after it dropped a mid-week matchup with Rio Grande.
-Freshman Mitch Longo leads the squad with a batting average of .355.
-With runners in scoring position, Longo leads the team with an average of .444. Junior Jake Madsen leads the team lead with a .333 batting average with two outs.
-Longo leads Ohio in 14 offensive categories.
-Entering this week, Longo is ranked sixth in the Mid-American Conference in batting average.
-Madsen had his season-best 11-game hitting streak snapped last weekend at Akron.
-Madsen has earned the starting nod in the Bobcats' last 138 games.
-Ohio is one of 12 teams in the country that have four-or-more true freshman in its everyday lineup this season.
-Entering the week, juniors Logan Cozart and Spencer Sapp lead the MAC in overall appearances.

Ohio will faceoff against Toledo for the 119th time in school history on Friday. Ohio leads the all-time series 64-54. The two teams met last season for a three-game series at Bob Wren Stadium. In that three-game series, the Bobcats dropped two of three to the Rockets at home.

Toledo enters the weekend, having dropped each of its last three games. The Rockets latest setback came at the hands of Notre Dame as they suffered a 4-3 setback. The Rockets are currently tied with Northern Illinois for third place in the MAC West Division and in a four-way deadlock for sixth in the overall league standings. Sophomore Deion Tansel is batting a team-best .338 (46-for-136) with 19 runs scored.
