ATHENS, Ohio - Wednesday's baseball game between Ohio University and Dayton, scheduled for 6 p.m. at Bob Wren Stadium, has been cancelled due to expected heavy rains throughout the evening Ohio head coach Joe Carbone announced. With just over a week remaining in the regular season, the game will not be made up and Ohio's final non-conference game will be Tuesday, May 12 when the Bobcats host Cincinnati at 6 p.m. ET at Bob Wren Stadium.

Ohio (23-20, 13-8 Mid-American Conference) has now had 12 games cancelled this year due to inclement weather, as well as two postponements. The 'Cats had just 14 games scratched in the previous three years combined, including 10 in 2006.

Ohio hopes for clear skies when it returns to action this weekend, as the Bobcats take on rival Miami in a key three-game "Battle of the Bricks" series Friday, May 8 to Sunday, May 10 at the RedHawks' McKie Field at Hayden Park. The two teams sit in a tie for third place in the MAC's East Division with just two weekends of league play left before the conference tournament. Friday's and Saturday's games commence at 6 p.m. ET, while Sunday's finale has first pitch slated for 1 p.m. ET.

Live stats will be available for all three games this weekend via Gametracker on OhioBobcats.com and the games will also be broadcast on WATH 970 AM in Athens and streamed live on OhioBobcats.com. The "Voice of the Bobcats" Russ Eisenstein and Brian Boesch will call all the action starting 15 minutes prior to first pitch each day with pre-game coverage.
