Ohio Travels to Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday

The Ohio University baseball team returns to action on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. for a midweek matchup with Eastern Kentucky. The Bobcats' matchup with the Colonels will mark their final road game of the year.

-The Bobcats enter their midweek matchup with the Colonels following a 2-1 series setback at Bowling Green.
-Ohio's series loss at Bowling Green marked the first time it had been defeated in a league series since it dropped two of three games to Toledo on April 18-20.
-Ohio and EKU were scheduled to play a midweek game earlier this season on March 25, but the game was cancelled because of poor weather conditions in Richmond, Ky.
-Ohio has dropped 17 games by three runs or less this season. Five of Ohio's losses have come by a single run.
-Ohio is 11-0 when leading after seven innings. In addition, Ohio is 2-0 this season in extra innings.
-Sophomore John Adryan had his nine-game hitting streak snapped this past weekend at Bowling Green.
-Juniors Jake Madsen, Tyler Wells and Garrett Black have had hitting streaks of 11, 10 and nine games earlier this season. Freshman Mitch Longo also has posted an 11-game hit streak this season.
-Madsen leads the squad with a .373 batting average in conference games.
-Freshman Ty Black's .417 average this past weekend at Bowling Green was a team-best.
-The Bobcats have collected 10-or-more hits in 18 of their 46 games this season.
-Ohio has pounded out 10-or-more hits in seven of its last 10 games.
-Ohio has turned 45 double plays this season, which leads the Mid-American Conference coming into the week.
-The Bobcats are averaging 0.96 double plays per game, which ranks 40th among all NCAA teams, entering this week.
-Freshman Mitch Longo leads the squad with a batting average of .346.
-Entering the week, Longo is ranked seventh in the Mid-American Conference in batting average.
-Madsen has earned the starting nod in the Bobcats' last 152 games.
-Madsen has also reached base in each of the last 28 games.
-Ohio is one of 13 teams in the country that have four-or-more true freshman in its everyday lineup this season.
-Entering the week, junior Logan Cozart leads the MAC in overall appearances.
-Freshman Jake Roehn ranks second in the MAC and 27th nationally in overall starts, entering this week.

Ohio Defeats Eastern Kentucky, 10-3
The Ohio University baseball team (7-24) defeated the Eastern Kentucky Colonels by a final score of 10-3 at Bob Wren Stadium Wednesday night.

Tuesday: LHP Sean Kennedy (Ohio) vs. LHP Alex Hamilton (EKU)

Ohio will faceoff against Eastern Kentucky for the ninth time in school history on Tuesday. The Bobcats trail in the all-time series 5-3. The two teams met last season in Athens with the Bobcats, earning a 10-3 victory over EKU.

The Colonels enter their final midweek matchup of the year in the hopes of putting an end to their current four-game lossing streak. This past weekend, Eastern Kentucky was swept by Jacksonville State on the road. Three EKU players are batting .300-or-better this season. Bryan Soloman leads the team with a .347 batting average. Soloman also holds the team lead in home runs (13) and RBI (52) - both statistics rank in the Top 5 in the Ohio Valley Conference. As a team, the Colonels have collected 48 home runs. On the mound, EKU owns a team earned run average of 5.91.

Ohio dropped two of three games this past weekend at Bowling Green and in the process were eliminated from the Mid-American Conference Championship. The Bobcats dropped the opener 11-4, but rebounded with a 7-6 victory in game two. In the series finale, Ohio was edged 7-6 courtsey of a walkoff double by BG. Freshman Ty Black led the way offensively as he went 5-for-12 at the plate (.417). Teammates Jake Madsen (.364)and Garrett Black (.308) also batted over .300 this past weekend. Sophomore Connor Sitz had one of his best pitching performances of the year as he went 6.0 innings and did not give up an earned run.
