ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University junior captain Seth Streich was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season on Monday following his performance this past weekend at Akron.
Streich (Ridgeway, Pa.) received the award after he helped the Bobcats to their third league series sweep of the season on Sunday. In his lone outing of the week, Streich tossed his third complete game of the year.
During his nine-inning start, Streich struck out six, did not allow an earned run and walked just one batter as he improved to 4-5 on the year. With the win, the Bobcats moved back over .500 for the year.
In 2012, Ohio players have received eight weekly honors, earning three Pitcher and five Player of the Week honors.
Ohio will begin its final week of the regular season on Tuesday as it takes on Dayton, beginning at 6 p.m. inside Bob Wren Stadium. The Bobcats conclude the regular season with a three-game series at home against Miami, beginning on Thursday.
