CHICAGO -

Former Ohio Bobcat and current Chicago White Sox pitcher Adam Russell moved his Major League record to 4-0 Tuesday night, throwing the final two-thirds in the top half of the 14th inning against the Sox’ American League Central rival Detroit Tigers.

Russell (4-0, 5.23) entered the final inning after the Tigers had taken an 8-6 lead and shut down the visitors, allowing no runs and no hits to end the top half of the inning. The White Sox rallied in the bottom of the inning to take the game in walk-off fashion as Nick Swisher hit a three-run home run to earn Russell and the White Sox the victory.

The former Bobcat made his Major League debut June 17 against the Pittsburgh Pirates where he pitched an inning of scoreless baseball and received a no decision. The reliever has now appeared in 10 games for the South Siders, having pitched 10.1 innings of work, allowing six earned runs on 13 hits, while striking out nine.

All four of Russell’s wins have come against American League Central teams.
